Get Baked x Fortnum’s Review

Get Baked, the company behind the famous “Bruce” cake are currently providing their treats at the world famous Fortnum and Mason located in Piccadilly in London. To celebrate this collaboration, Get Baked recently held a 3 day launch event which was ticket only. The launch event started on the 22nd August. Get Baked will be at Fortnum’s for 8 weeks.

I managed to get a ticket for the 3rd day of the launch event which was Saturday 24th August. The price of the ticket included a slice of “Bertha” which is the replacement for “Bruce” (which is no more, RIP Bruce).

There were 2 queues-9am queue and 9.30am queue. I made sure I got there quite early as I had been seeing reports of people queueing from 8am. I was in the 9am queue and arrived at 8.20am-there were only a couple of people in front of me. It was a rainy day (typical).

Waiting in the rain for Bertha

Rich, the founder/owner of Get Baked was walking around looking at the queues. By the time it got to 9am the queue was stretching down the majority of Piccadilly-I was so glad I got there early as I just wanted to get in get “Bertha” and leave.

The doors finally opened at 9.10am.

You could also purchase the Get Baked baking book

Our names were ticked off on a register and we were given our cake. Some people bought more than 1 slice ( a slice is £17). There are also other sweet goodies from Get Baked to buy. They have produced a limited edition Knickerbocker Glory Pie. I bought a slice of this.

Anyone for pie?

The pie costs £8 for a slice. I got my goodies and went home to taste.

Get Baked state that the “Bertha” is not as rich tasting as “Bruce” was. I enjoyed it but felt it tasted just like “Bruce”.

Look at the size of that slice!

The Knickerbocker Glory slice was a bigger winner for me, really enjoyed the flavours. Highly recommended.

A mouthful of flavour

As well as buying slices of “Bertha”, the pie and other goodies in store, you can also pre order a whole “Bertha” and a whole pie on the Fortnum website.

The collab runs until the end of the 3rd week of October so don’t miss out!
