Thought Piece: Is being a cake reviewer harming my health?
I stumbled across an article in The Guardian about food reviewers who have to balance their job with looking after their health (I will put a link to the article at the end)
It made me think of what I do as a cake reviewer. Cakes are high in sugar and fat-there’s not getting round that. Yes you can get “healthy cakes” which I do occasional review but they (normally) don’t taste that great. And contrary to what you may think vegan cakes are not necessarily healthier-most sugar is vegan after all.
My cake reviewing is not a full time gig- and I’m thankful for that. I have a day job that I won’t be stopping anytime soon and in the evenings and the weekend, I pursue my cake vlogging/blogging/reviews. I review cakes at the weekends. I don’t eat all of the cake- I give a lot of cake away on the Olio app and give to friends/family/work colleagues. I am pescatarian, I try and eat a fairly healthy diet and exercise 6 times a week.
I hope by doing this it helps combat my sugary hobby!
